Commissioned as the official artwork for the 2025 Ogden Marathon, this project was more than just illustration, it was lived experience.
To fully connect with the story, I ran the Winter Running Series and the Half Marathon myself, becoming what The Banyan Collective later dubbed a “method artist.”
The design blends iconic Ogden landscapes (Pineview Lake, winding canyons, Ogden Sign and local landmarks) with personal symbolism. A yellow road, inspired by The Wizard of Oz, leads toward a finish line filled with joy, perseverance, and light. Runner silhouettes nod to Keith Haring’s expressive forms, capturing motion, energy, and collective spirit. The marathon’s final stretch is embedded in the shoe sole of the central figure, grounding the journey in Ogden’s geography.
The artwork became a full event identity. Featured on the runners’ shirts, medals, hats, and merchandise. This was design in motion, rooted in community and the power of place.
